Charles & Marie: Richard Lawson's 9-Volt Light

€25...you've got to be joking...€25 for ten would be steep!

New Look to stop doing larger sizes?

My good lady informs me that New Look in the Traffic Centre have stopped doing clothes for the larger (read realistic) sized ladies. An embarrassed assistant, when asked, said ''We didn't have room for the larger size section, so we've don't do them any more.''

I suppose they make enough dosh from anorexic teenage girls to not worry about the wider (oops) market? (Just when other retailers and the fashion world in general are starting to realize that not everyone is a standard sized stick-insect)???

Joe Strummer Special

Fender do a Joe Strummer Limited Edition 'Relic'

Cool, I suppose? And spooky in that it's happened just after I went looking for pictures of the original. When I looked, just the one or two pics. Now, loads of pics of the replica in all the shops.

Joe Strummer's guitar

Joe Strummer's Tele, or it looks like it anyway. Don't quite know what the purpose of the website it's on, but would love a guitar like this. Maybe start with a cheap Affinity, then work my way up LOL.

TrustedReviews - The UKs premier source of IT News and Reviews

Looks like a good review site - told me what I wanted to know about the price of running a printer I had seen in an advert.

ADSLGuide becomes ThinkBroadband

thinkbroadband: The UK's largest independent ADSL review site - Your guide to UK broadband Internet.

Also watch out for www.adslguide.com - I think it's a commercial site cashing in on the success of the original. Claims to let you 'find and compare all the major broadband services'. But when you compare with those recommended by users on ThinkBroadband.com there are quite a few left out!

BBC - Food - Recipes - Caldo verde (Portuguese green soup)

BBC - Food - Recipes - Caldo verde (Portuguese green soup)

Tried making this the other day...several things to note:

1)The recipe in the book lists Port as one of the ingredients - guess who didn't read the recipe all the way through and bought a seemingly unneccessary bottle of port? Doh! (Tastes OK tho!)

2) When it says continue sweating the onions and sausage I think you'd have to let them fry a bit more than just sweating to get the chorizo looking like it does in the picture in the book.

3) If someone else is getting the cabbage, make sure they understand you need green cabbage! it really doesn't look so nice with white!

At the Crossroads

At the Crossroads

An interesting and low key blog about 'things SES' ...though I haven't brought myself to read it all yet...don't want to really as my mind seems to slip into that sanctimonious, 'holier than thou', Queen's speech/BBC received pronunciation that SES people seemed to love to speak when I last had any contact with that organisation.

I also noted that the blog header proclaims 'A place to meet for honest and positive dialogue about the School,...' almost as if implying all other sources of information or dialogue about the School were automatically dishonest and negative. Would it be more 'honest' if it specifically mentioned the SES and openly linked to the SES web page?
